Usher in the New Year with prayer
Entertainment News December 30th, 2011There are parties and there are limes to attend on New Year’s Eve but hundreds of Trinidadians opt to attend church services to start the new year on a good note. New Year services are usually held so churchgoers will be able to transition from the old year to the new with prayers and thanksgiving to God.
Some services within recent times however have been scheduled for an earlier hour as churches seek to address safety and security issues and the interests of older members of the population. Here are some of the services scheduled for Old Year’s night at some of the churches in Trinidad.
Anglican:
Holy Trinity Cathedral, Port-of-Spain
New Year’s Eve: 5 pm, Holy Vigil 11 pm
New Year’s Day: 6 am and 8 am
All Saints, Port-of-Spain
New Year’s Eve: 11 pm Watch night and Holy Eucharist
New Year’s Day: 6 am, 7:30 am 6pm. Chapel of Ease: 9.30 am
Church of the Good Shepherd, Tunapuna, St Oswald’s, Caroni.
New Year’s Eve: 10 pm (Good Shepherd)
New Year’s Day: 7am (Good Shepherd) 10 am (St Oswald’s)
